Dylan

Hi! I am Dylan, and I’m originally from Nashville, Tennessee. I’ve been tutoring since elementary school, but I’ve been doing it seriously for about 6 years now. I’ve loved tutoring in all aspects of the word because I think being able to understand how other people learn and then using that to try to speak to that student in essentially their own form of language is incredible. Whenever I tutor, I get really excited when they accomplish something because it often seems impossible. I believe anyone can learn, but it just takes that extra effort to get the information in a way that the student can learn. It takes someone who understands their language, and that’s what I’ve been working on understanding every time I tutor a new student.

I’ve tutored mostly Math and Science classes (from Algebra or Calculus to Biology or Physics) and a lot of ACT/College Prep work. However, I also loved tutoring AP US History and AP Government classes. I was a College Counselling and Math Teacher’s Assistant for a few years, and I helped organize after-school study sessions as well. I’ve taken 8 APs (Human Geography, Seminar, Biology, US History, Research, Statistics, Calculus, and Government) with 5s on all of them, and I got a 36 ACT. During lockdown, I also tutored online and had an incredible opportunity to teach students from six of the seven continents (excluding Antarctica), which even further broadened my understanding of how students differ in their learning styles.

Outside of tutoring, I like to play soccer and tennis (I was also the manager for the basketball team), I did some work on local and federal advocacy boards, and I did a lot of Mock Congress and Model UN conferences.

I am very excited to continue tutoring, and I hope to make learning a fun experience.
