In high school, I had the honor of visiting a local inner city Kindergarten class with my Community Service Club (which I co-chaired for two years). Many of the children that we interacted with were very underprivileged, but these children were eager to learn, and this loving environment really opened my heart.
More recently, I had the pleasure of tutoring a local high school student who was struggling with math. I loved watching this particular student improve and learn new approaches to problem solving as our tutoring sessions progressed.
Apart from a deep interest in using education as a means of social reform, I have a love for forming new connections with people that are willing to learn (and perhaps will teach me in return!). I love tutoring because it is an opportunity to disseminate knowledge and perhaps help make the world a better place.
I love to write poetry and read high fiction. A few other interests include cooking, distance running, swimming, and knitting.
