Ultimately, our goal is to MAXIMIZE each student’s score POTENTIAL, whether that’s a 25 or a 36.

TARGETED LESSONS
World-class tutors tailor each lesson to your student’s evolving needs. Sessions are held either in-person or online.
HOMEWORK
Homework is the key to consistent score increases. We create detailed study plans so your child knows exactly WHAT to do and WHEN.
A thoughtfully designed program
Our ACT program is based on a deep understanding of the test and how students learn.
Our co-founders, Greg and Kevin, started tutoring the ACT in the early 2000s while undergraduates at Princeton.
Since then, they’ve spent THOUSANDS of hours tutoring the test, have scrutinized every aspect of the ACT, and continue to research and personally teach the test. Just as important is their deep insight into WHAT students struggle with and WHY they struggle.
These experiences and insights inform all aspects of our ACT program, including: our training, our strategies/ methodologies, and our materials.
Addresses 5 common student issues
Skills
The ACT is described as a “curriculum-based achievement test” and is designed to test skills you’ve learned in your high school classes.
You’ll want to brush up on your basic content areas (e.g. grammar, Algebra 1 and 2, geometry, trigonometry) as well as your ability to critically read texts and data.
Strategy
While strategies won’t make up for a lack of skills, knowing which strategies to use and when to use them will help students save time and improve accuracy.
For example, the ACT Science section trips up a lot of students. Knowing strategies to address the different passage and question types can prevent students from getting lost in the technical/scientific jargon.
Timing
The ACT is a long test, clocking in at 3 hrs and 35 min (w/ the essay) without any breaks.
However, one of the biggest challenges with the ACT is how fast-paced it is (vs the SAT). For example, you only have 45 minutes to complete 75 questions in the English section. Thats 36 seconds per question.
Even if you know the material, you have to be able to solve the questions under timed conditions.
Approach
A small percentage of students are natural test-takers. They seem to breeze though the test with little preparation and minimal effort.
For everybody else, test-taking skills CAN be learned. The specific approach and recommended study plans depend on your specific strengths and weaknesses.
Anxiety
Test anxiety is worse from some students than others. This is exacerbated by the fast-paced nature of the test. There are certain strategies we use that help mitigate these effects.
However, there will always be a number of students where the anxiety can be severely crippling and result in test scores that are well below their at-home practice tests.
Not all is lost for these students. There are still things we can try. Test prep is still worthwhile, but we’ll have to be realistic about diminishing benefits and develop realistic plans moving forward.
How is your child performing in these areas?
LEARN HOW WE CAN HELPLearn from world-class instructors
Our team includes award-winning Princeton University undergrads and Master’s/PhD graduates who have dominated the test and know the material inside-and-out.
We understand that knowing the material is very different than being able to TEACH the material.
A great ACT tutor is one who understands your student’s needs and is able to adapt the focus and pace of sessions accordingly.
Furthermore, our tutors are rigorously screened and trained. All have significant tutoring experience, a passion for teaching, and the ability to connect with students.
Regular updates & a risk-free guarantee
We regularly track progress and keep you informed, which means that you’re never in the dark about your student’s progress.
Timed practice tests are regularly administered to track score increases and to help re-calibrate our approach if necessary.
And while we don’t guarantee a specific score increase (more about that in our FAQs), we have a satisfaction guarantee:
If you’re not happy with any session, the next session is on us and we’ll find another tutor who’ll be a better fit. In the rare case that it still doesn’t work out, we’re happy to refund the unused balance.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many points can I expect to increase?
Many programs tout the best tutors and guaranteed average score increases.
Please note that these numbers can often be misleading.
There are many factors that determine a student’s potential score increase:
- Student baseline score
- Previous amount of preparation
- Student work ethic/motivation
- # Hours of tutoring
- Luck
We’ve produced several perfect scorers. Some of our students have made 6+ point jumps in a short period of time.
On the flip side, we’ve also had a small number of students who didn’t improve much because they didn’t put in the work.
Every student is unique. Our goal is to help each student achieve their personal max scores.
What we can guarantee is that we’ll track student progress to keep you in the loop and to make sure we’re moving in the right direction.
What materials do you use?
We supplement official ACT practice tests with our own high-quality materials:
- Official Tests – Official ACT tests and practice questions are essential for all students
- In-House Materials – Our own best-in-class Coursebooks and Strategy Guides. These materials are the result of hundreds of hours of research and testing. They include the best strategies and techniques, are clearly written, and are highly-rated by our students.
- In-House Tools – A personalized ACT “Command Center” track’s student progress
- Supplementary Materials – Other recommended materials for additional drilling
When are the ACT testing dates and deadlines?
The ACT is typically administered 7 times per year. Please visit the ACT website for specific dates.
Please note that registration deadlines are usually 1 month before each testing date.
What is our pricing?
Pricing starts at 85/hr, ~166/hr, and ~349/hr depending on the tier of tutor. Discounts available for larger package purchases. 100% risk-free guarantee.
