Hi! I’m Josh and I first started tutoring way back in the 20th century when I worked as a volunteer peer tutor at my high school library. My teaching style is energetic, playful, and conversational, with a focus on prioritizing understanding over rote memorization.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from UCLA, I worked in test prep at multiple LA-based companies, while also training incoming tutors. Eventually, after observing that most students make the same critical fundamental mistakes with standardized tests, I co-authored a series of study guides for the ACT and SAT, which have helped thousands of students boost their test scores. I also volunteer as a UCLA alumni scholarship application reader, and I have years of experience supporting students with college essay writing.
In addition to extensive experience with college entrance exams, I have expertise in the SSAT, ISEE, HSPT, GRE, and AP exams and have tutored students as young as 4th grade all the way up to graduate school.
When I’m not tutoring, I work as a writer/actor and I love traveling the world, performing improv comedy, playing pickleball, and soaking up lazy Sundays with my wife and our quirky cockapoo, Otis (who usually makes an appearance during Zoom tutoring sessions).
