Bhanu

Hi! My name is Bhanu and I graduated from Swarthmore College with a B.S. in Engineering and a minor in Chemistry! I am extremely interested in integrating engineering as a method to provide more cost effective healthcare, and I am hoping to pursue an MD-Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. I am especially interested in improving access to cancer treatments in developing nations and/or underserved communities. I currently work at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, where I conduct cancer research. I also currently volunteer within the inpatient unit at Massachusetts General Hospital! I love the concept of scientific collaboration in medicine with researchers, patients, and doctors! At my current position, I am working to lead campaigns to develop community-focused medical education such as a workshop communicating accessible and digestible vaccine information: debunking myths around vaccines.

I tutored middle and elementary school students throughout college, and especially loved to teach math and science. I enjoy getting students excited about STEM! I strive to work with students to view scientific and mathematical material from different angles that can create a more rewarding experience for both me and the student as we gain a greater understanding of the concept. I am a firm believer of the flexibility of math and science reasoning, including whatever method a student might find easier! I have been involved in various programs and efforts to increase support in STEM education within college, especially for students that had limited exposure to content during high school. For example, I worked to develop boot camps and workshops within my undergraduate education to introduce students to coding. I am also excited to support students with honors, AP and SAT content and help prepare them for college and their future careers! Please feel free to reach out with any questions! I am always eager to mentor students as they find their professional pathway.
