Hi! I’m Rebecca, a current high school English teacher, University Composition teacher, and mom. A not-recent University of Michigan graduate, I am deeply loyal to my alma-mater where I graduated with a BA in English Language and Literature and an MA in English Education. I began my career teaching high school English, attending Dartmouth’s graduate English program during the summer trimesters, and then eventually earned a dual-degree PhD in American Studies and Curriculum Studies from Indiana University, Bloomington. I have been an Assistant Professor at a small liberal arts school as well. As a writing center director, I have extensive experience tutoring and teaching writing skills. In addition, I am a certified AP Literature teacher and my students consistently earn 4s and 5s on their exams. I really enjoy working with all different types of teenagers and helping them find a unique, direct, and personable voice to write college essays as well as other types of writing. In addition, I have decades of experience teaching writing and reading comprehension as well as teaching future-teachers how to teach these skills. On my off time, I play tennis, kayak, and “play” with the dog and my teenage children whenever they let me.
