Tutors are capable of so much more than "homework help," and I want to make a noticeable impact on the youth in my (recently-adopted) community. In response to a rigorous high school course load and strenuous extracurricular schedule, I have learned effective strategies to study challenging material, balance co-curricular activities, overcome a wealth of obstacles (in many disciplines), and time-manage. Middle and high school are challenging for many reasons, and I look forward to helping young students through these challenges.
In high school, I participated in numerous activities that have enabled me to mentor and instruct students of all ages. I have developed strong communication skills, especially with adolescents, through my varied endeavors. For example, in high school, I volunteered as a class assistant for the Boys Choir of Wilmington. Even though I was both an instructor and disciplinarian to the students, I was a role model and a mentor as well. Outside of weekly rehearsals I would frequently talk with my students about their struggles, triumphs, and future aspirations. Such positions have improved my communication skills with parents and students of all ages and piqued my interest community service and mentorship more broadly. I hope to transfer these skills to my work as a tutor in Princeton.
