Private Algebra Tutoring
Since 2005, we have helped students improve their confidence and grades in algebra. Our clients have even included other professionals in the field of education - teachers, Ivy League professors, and members of the Princeton University administration. Whether your child is struggling or simply looking for enrichment tutoring, our exceptional algebra tutors will create a customized approach tailored specifically for your needs. After each session, you’ll receive a detailed progress report to track your child’s improvement (view a real recap from one of our algebra tutoring sessions).
What Parents Say about Our Algebra Tutors
We worked with an eighth grader from John Witherspoon Middle School who was a bright student, but having an increasingly hard time staying organized and motivated. He especially had difficulties in algebra. Our goals were to bring up his math grades (which were in the D range), while teaching him organizational, study, and test-taking skills.
We matched the son with Reuben, an Economics major and jazz trumpeter at Princeton University who is also very talented in math and physics. Here’s what we heard back from the student’s mother:
“Thanks so much for the recap, and for all you’ve done for A this year. It’s been very helpful to have someone review his work with him, and I think he’s definitely gained in confidence. He has an A- average right now in math, which is far better than the Cs and Ds he was getting earlier in the year.
We would love it if A could continue with you next year. As he makes the transition to the high school, it will be great to have someone to help reinforce the new concepts he will be learning.”

Why Do Students Struggle with Algebra?
Algebra is one of the most important subjects for students to develop proficiency in. Algebraic concepts are used in many of your child’s other classes (chemistry, physics, calculus, economics, etc.) not to mention college-level coursework. It is probably the highest level of math that the average person will ever use in their post-graduate careers.
We find that many students either love or hate algebra. Some have problems with the specific material – for example, they find concepts like factoring or polynomials too abstract to grasp. We also frequently see students who are smart and know the subject fairly well, but work too fast, leading to carelessness. They are used to doing things in their head, and while that might have gotten them through middle school just fine, with more difficult subjects, it is important to be methodical and write things down step-by-step. This helps organize the thought process, prevents careless mistakes, and also allows for partial credit when it’s given.
Our algebra tutors are experts at math and love teaching the subject. Some have won awards in math competitions, and some are math majors or have other quantitative majors where algebra is used extensively.
