Private English Tutoring
Since 2005, we have helped students improve their confidence and grades in English, from reading comprehension to writing in all its forms. Our clients have even included other professionals in the field of education - teachers, Ivy League professors, and members of the Princeton University administration. Whether your child is struggling or simply looking for enrichment tutoring, our exceptional private English tutors will create a customized approach tailored specifically for your needs. After each session, you’ll receive a detailed progress report to track your child’s improvement in English (view a real recap from one of our writing tutoring sessions).
What Parents Say about Our English Tutors
The parent of an 11th grader at West Windsor Plainsboro North contacted us help her son improve his analytical essay skills for English and history classes. He specifically had trouble formulating clear theses and organizing his thoughts. Our general goals were to improve his writing skills and increase his confidence. We matched the son with Daniel, a philosophy and neuroscience major at Princeton University, and aspiring professor. Here are two messages we received over the course of their work together:
“I am so very pleased with the work you are doing with C! Have sent some folks your way. Thanks.”
“Thanks Daniel. I was talking with the WWP English supervisor for grades 6 to 12 and told her what a super job you were doing with C. Your teaching techniques are better than most of the English teachers he has encountered over the past years. This is really true! You would make a good professor!”

Why Do Students Struggle with English?
The ability to understand what you’re reading and the ability to write well are essential core skills that are necessary in all subjects. In recognition of this fact, in 2005, the SAT was revised to include a writing component. Of the three sections of the SAT (math, critical reading, and writing), verbal components comprise two-thirds of the test. Most colleges are more impressed with an 800 in critical reading than they are with an 800 in math.
Students struggle with reading comprehension and writing for a number of reasons. These might include inherent aptitude, attitude, or the quality of one’s teachers. In particular, students who do not read frequently are at a disadvantage.
As our students spend more of their time in the online world, you might think all that typing and texting would lead to improved writing abilities. However, academic writing entails a certain set of expectations regarding format, approach, ways of backing up what you say, etc. that must be learned. Our tutors can help.
