Material Covered:

I have decided to follow the curriculum of my university’s two introductory computer scienceclasses, “Intro to Computer Science” and “Data Structures and Algorithms”. A has already covered the majority of the first course’s material in his AP class. This includes if statements, loops, input/output, arrays, functions, objects, and recursion. So far, I have been finishing off the first class by teaching him some basic data structures. The first tutoring session A picked up linked lists fairly quickly. So, this time I taught him stacks, queues, symbol tables, and binary search trees. It was definitely about to absorb, so next class I’ll give him a quick oral quiz to see how much he remember. If all goes well, I start on “Data Structures and Algorithms”. The course’s website features lectures slides, which I can download and give to A.

Assignments for Next Week:

Engage in some independent research on binary search trees and review stacks and queues.
