I love inspiring students with my love for reading and writing. I have been a life-long lover of books, and I believe that anyone can learn to appreciate the wonder, power, and value of great books. I am interested in pursuing a career in education, journalism, or law.

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
AP Scholar with Distinction, 1st Team All Area Volleyball Player
I have experience teaching people in various disciplines ranging from academic subjects to sports. I have always enjoyed helping those who need help get from point A to point B. It is a great feeling to give back because if people hadn't helped me when I was younger I would not be where I am today. My philosophy in tutoring branches into two separate categories, being a motivator and being a teacher. As a tutor, it is my responsibility to help the student achieve his/her goals by instructing them on how to approach the subject at hand. However, it is also my responsibility to motivate the student, so that he/she is putting in the necessary preparation outside of our tutoring sessions in order to succeed. I have found the following to be true: 1. There is no substitute for hard work 2. Luck favors the prepared
Rutgers University
The President’s Award for Academic Excellence, History Student Award for Academic Achievement in History
Eileen graduated from the School of Arts and Sciences with a major in Art History and a minor in Classics. In her free time she helps run House Blackrill: Medieval Reenactment Society and whacks people with swords. In the future she plans on attending graduate school for Art History. As an undergraduate, Eileen first found her passion for tutoring through the Rutgers Learning Centers, where she mentored students one-on-one and individually in remedial math. She explored this passion further by working with the Office of Student Affairs at Rutgers to put together a 10-week accredited Art History seminar for first-year students, for which she developed the curriculum and was the sole instructor. This experience taught her the importance of adapting lessons to the interests and strengths of her pupils. In her final year of undergraduate studies, Eileen spent a semester abroad in Galway, Ireland. There, she developed a healthy interest in Irish History and an unhealthy interest in fish and chips.
Swarthmore College
Term honors (12/12), NJISAA Scholar-Athlete Award, AP Scholar with Distinction
I am an Engineering and Computer Science major at Swarthmore College. I am a very passionate, curious learner. I have always been a student driven a desire to understand the course material beyond the scope of the class. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to help others understand the things I am passionate about. I have been tutoring in various subjects since high school, and at college I am a computer science tutor through the Dean's Office. Given my majors, I am strongest in math and computer science, but I enjoy helping students with physics as well. I have also studied languages for a long time and am fluent in both French and Spanish.
