I love to tutor because I do not like seeing knowledge go to waste. When I take a class, I recognize that not everything I learn in that class will be of use to me when I am no longer in that class or in the future when I am pursuing a professional career. To some, this extraneous information is an additional weight; fat to be trimmed from an already enormous set of expectations set forth by that class. However, I believe there is beauty in the details. What I may find boring, another person may be so intrigued by that they base their entire life around understanding it. In order to find your place in the world, you need to find a set of knowledge you are comfortable with learning and then eventually extending when you are older and can contribute to that body of knowledge. But you will never know what role you can play in the world unless you sift through all the pieces and do not take the opportunity to learn for granted. So, I tutor because I myself do not want to forget all the pieces of knowledge I have picked up throughout my life, and because I hope that through the proper lens I can give another person insight into something about themselves and what they are passionate about, that they would never had known, had they not taken the time to shift through all the pieces of knowledge they have had the opportunity to learn.
